Traditional bamboo matcha whisk
A handcrafted matcha whisk used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies to prepare perfectly smooth matcha
This handmade bamboo whisk, known as a ‘chasen’ (茶筅), is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies to prepare perfectly smooth matcha. Handcrafted from a single piece of winter-hardened bamboo by specialist chasen artisans in a family workshop that has been crafting these ceremonial masterpieces for generations, each traditional bamboo chasen is truly a unique work of art. It features 100 tines, each of which has been expertly cut, meticulously woven with string, and curled at the tip to allow for the tea to be efficiently whisked to create smooth-tasting matcha — a beautiful work of craftsmanship that will add elegance and sophistication to your daily #MatchaRitual.
Dimensions: Diameter 60mm / Height 105mm

+/-10% variations may occur due to the handmade nature of the product
After each use, rinse with cold water and stand, tines up, to dry in a well-ventilated area. With use, the twisted centre and outer tips of the whisk will gradually unfurl; this is a natural process traditionally known as 'blooming'.

Perfect tool for every matcha

I've used an electronic whisk before moving to a wooden whisk and can't believe it took me so long to try this, I'm never going back to an electronic one because of Matchaeologist. It's wrong to not buy matcha powder without one of Matchaeologist's whisks.

Thank you for your review Nyasha! It’s wonderful to hear that Traditional Chasen worked so well for you. Your feedback helps us keep striving for excellence. Please do not hesitate to get in touch in case there’s anything else at all we can do to assist you further! We look forward to serving you again! – Matchaeologist Team

High quality chasen

This is the perfect chasen to make matcha green tea. It’s high quality with more and thicker prongs. Do not buy a chasen from Amazon! They are poor quality and not worth the money.

We’re so grateful for your review, Tyra! Thank you for taking the time to share your kind feedback with us. Please do not hesitate to get in touch in case there’s anything else at all we can do to assist you further! We look forward to serving you again! – Matchaeologist Team

I have it for a couple of months, and with proper care, it still holds its initial form and curves
